The Beretta Cheetah series of pistols, introduced in the mid-1970s for the defence and police market, was an absolute success for the Alpine company. These are weapons intended for self-defence or covert police work, based on earlier models of the brand (such as the M1934), inheriting the open slide design but introducing double-action and single-action trigger systems and improved ergonomics.
The weapon is operated by an automatic "blowback" mechanism. They are extremely reliable and for years have been preferred by plain clothes policemen or civilians with a defence weapons licence.
